Samsung to embrace third dimension with Galaxy 3D

Samsung to embrace third dimension with Galaxy 3DBrilliant. We’ve already had a story about NFC this morning, and now here’s a news item about 3D. My two most-hated new(ish) technologies side by side. What do you mean “stick-in-the-mud”? Shut it.

Samsung has announced its plans to join LG and HTC at the 3D dinner table. Tonight’s starter is sore eyes with a headache garnish, followed by a main course of decreased battery life. For dessert? Utter pointlessness. Mmm, delicious.

LG’s Optimus 3D has landed, and it’ll soon be followed by HTC’s Evo 3D. Samsung’s 3D effort – the Samsung Galaxy 3D – is, unsurprisingly, pretty much a 3D rehash of its Galaxy S II.

4.3in screen? Check. 1.2GHz dual-core processor? Check. 8MP camera? Check. Of course, the Samsung Galaxy 3D will wield dual-cameras for 3D-ness, and you’ll be able to project your 3D junk onto the big screen via its HDMI port.

The Samsung Galaxy 3D will arrive near the end of the year with Gingerbread (Android 2.3), however it’s said to have a keen eye on Ice Cream Sandwich, the next big version of Android which boldly aims to unite smartphone and tablet users.

Not arsed about 3d but I use NFC all the time in Korea: tube, bus, taxi, public lockers, restaurants, shops, etc. But it'll be **** in the UK, rpobably.

3D on a phone is a bit pointless...I can just about understand it in films, for example; but phones, really?
