South Korea’s favourite, Samsung, recently rattled off a list of its devices that can expect an imminent upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), but there were a couple of notable omissions.
Those who’ve chosen to stick by the original Samsung Galaxy S and 7in Samsung Galaxy Tab will not be dining on Ice Cream Sandwich, and now Sammo has revealed why.
Samsung explains that both the Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy Tab have too many deeply engrained Samsung elements, such as the TouchWiz UI, video calls and Samsung widgets.
As such, the South Koreans have been unable to get Ice Cream Sandwich running stably on either the Samsung Galaxy S or Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Not enough for you? Samsung hammered a final nail in the coffin by adding that RAM and ROM are also an issue.
On the plus side, Google Nexus S owners will definitely get the Ice Cream Sandwich treatment, but we’re hearing that it might take some time.
