Samsung: Exynos 4 Quad in next Galaxy

Samsung: Exynos 4 Quad in next GalaxyThe Samsung Galaxy S III rumours continue to fly thick and fast, with the lack of any official information from South Korea’s favourite manufacturer.

But wait! The Samsung horse’s mouth now says we should officially expect to see the Exynos 4 Quad quad-core processor in the next Galaxy. Sah-weet.

Samsung boasts that the Exynos 4 Quad is the “World [sic] First 32nm HKMG process based Quad ARM Cortex-A9 Mobile Application Processor”. That sounds like a guaranteed pick-up line to me.

Hankil Yoon, SVP of Samsung's Product Strategy Team, bawled: "The application processor is a crucial element in providing our customers with PC-like experience on mobile devices.

"Samsung’s next Galaxy device, which will be officially announced soon, offers uncompromised performance and ground breaking multi-tasking features, thanks to Exynos 4 Quad’s powerful performance and efficient energy management technology."

Interestingly, the Samsung Exynos 4 Quad boasts twice the processing power of the Exynos 4 Dual, but with 20% less strain on the battery. That’s what we like to hear.

Of course, the next Galaxy launch event takes place one week today, in Londinium.

In the meantime, you can read more about the Samsung Exynos 4 Quad over at samsung.com.

Surprising that they announced this before next galaxy.

Talking of processors anyone see the video of the two types of HTC One X benchmarks?

Yeah, I've seen a couple of videos with the S4 bases One X in. What about them?

One I saw was side by side and difference was significant.

Oh, the one where the Tegra 3 One X absolutely destroys the S4 based One XL? If so, that's not representative of real world performance, they're relatively evenly matched chips, with the Tegra 3 using more cores with older technology and the One XL using less cores but with newer technology.

Read a bit more about this Samsung chip now sounds like they've done an amazing job with it. Seems a very impressive improvement.

I'm disappointed that it doesn't have the Mali T-608 GPU, though the Mali 400 running at 400mhz is apparently faster than the dual core graphics chip in the iPhone 4S. Apart from that small disappointment it seems like another world beating SoC (same as 2010 and 2011). As the Tegra 3 is about on par with the S4, this Exynos 4412 is going to absolutely destroy them both.
