Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 Lost RAM after updating to 4.1.2

Last night I update via KIES my SGA2 from official 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 and I have noticed when it was on 2.3.6 it had 555MB of RAM since updating this has dropped to 482MB can someone explain to me what has happened have I done something wrong? or is it a problem with the phone. Any advice or pssible fixes would be appreciated as is using three quarters of the available RAM now compared to when it was on GB 2.3.6. I understand that 4.1.2 may be more processor hungry than 2.3.6. Many Thanks in advance.

I doubt there's anything wrong. It's probably some features of the new ROM using additional RAM. Have you checked in Settings => Applications to see what is running in terms of apps and processes?
It's not the first time that an updated OS gobbles more resources than the older version.
Remember the "Vista Ready" laptops scandal?

To JanSt, I have look into the Settings-Applications there's a lot more apps running compared to 2.3.6. I think you are right the new OS is using more RAM. Many Thanks for your reply.

You're welcome. You could root and freeze/uninstall unwanted bloat with an app like Titanium?
But your available RAM should be sufficient for most chores.

Thanks again for your help, can you advise me where to get a step by step tutorial on how to root my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, I have decided to root it as their are many useless apps in my case for example Google books/Magazines and Chat On and many others I would not use. The websites I have found explain it in a way as if you have rooted a mobile phone before and this would be my first time. Also what would be the worst that could happen if I made a mistake rooting the phone would the phone be bricked and useless to use.

You can try directions from here

I think Samsung phones can be easily restored to factory default,if something goes wrong. I don't remember which program to use. Maybe someone else can help.
