I’m struggling to imagine who in the heck might buy a Samsung Galaxy Beam, Sammo’s upcoming projector phone thingy. Certainly you guys don’t seem too fussed, but someone somewhere will probably want one, right?
Said person – or persons – can now register his/her/their interest over at le Carphone Warehouse, where the Samsung Galaxy Beam is officially “coming soon”.
The elephants among you might recall the original 2010 Samsung Galaxy Beam, or I8520. This new Samsung Galaxy Beam – apparently receiving more of an international push – is the I8530.
The expected arrival date for the new Samsung Galaxy Beam is a vague “June 2012”, so it could be any week now. Carphone Warehouse warns that the ETA is “subject to change without notice”, but that’s par for the “coming soon” course.
Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy Beam has an almost identical spec sheet to the Samsung Galaxy S Advance. Both have 4in displays with 480 x 800 resolutions, 5MP rear cameras with 1.3MP on the front, 1GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processors with 768MB RAM, and run Gingerbread (Android 2.3.6).
Of course, the big difference - other than a larger 2,000mAh battery - is the Samsung Galaxy Beam’s “ultra bright” 15-lumens nHD projector, which can throw video up to two metres, and up to 50in diagonally.
No word on Samsung Galaxy Beam price from Carphone Warehouse, but Clove – which expects stock in early July – is asking for £442.80 SIM free.
