You might remember Samsung’s new naming convention defines its Y range as entry-level handsets aimed at emerging markets and Young users.
We’ve already got the suitably modest Samsung Galaxy Y, and now Sammo is adding two more to the Y fold, namely the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos and the QWERTY-rocking Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos.
As the name sort-of implies, both the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos and Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos support dual SIM action with seamless switching.
"With the tremendous success of the Dual SIM feature phones, we are now very pleased to be introducing the first Dual SIM smartphones powered by Android. We have been actively exploring this market and are well aware of the need for Dual SIM smartphones," screamed JK Shin, President of Samsung Electronics’ IT & Mobile Comms Division.
"With the Galaxy Y Duos and the Galaxy Y Pro Duos, Samsung will be offering more choices for all consumers."
The Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has a 3.14in QVGA display, while the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos weighs in at 2.6in to accommodate the keyboard. Both have a 3MP rear camera and 832MHz processor, and run Gingerbread (Android 2.3) with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
