What kind of things do you do most on your phone? Calls? Browsing? Games? Youtube? Facebook? If you let us know a little more about what you like doing, we can maybe recommend certain features over others :) Thanks!

Chubs1, someone here on mobot reviewed the Desire HD over here - I just so happen to know that he still reckons the Desire HD is a great phone, except for the battery performance. Though few people use their phone for such heavy online duty - so for most users there shouldn't be a problem to get through a day on a charge.
I had a Galaxy S, and the nice big screen aside I did not like it. Experienced quite a bit of lag and mini-freezes (5 seconds or so) whenever too many sync activities went on in the background - like: you hit a link on a website while the email client pulls in your new mail...boom. black screen for a few seconds. That never happened on the Desire HD. It could update 10 apps from the market and you could still surf with the browser (given a fast connection). And though the Desire HD's camera isn't the greatest, the Galaxy S shooter lacks a 'flash' and is pretty useless in low light.
Also, though the Galaxy screen is pretty tough and resists scratches quire well, the rest of the Galaxy S is quite shabby for its price range. The battery cover is thin, fragile and scratches when you give it a stern look.

I could go on and on, but of the 2 I would choose the HTC even if it means spending some extra.

Where the Galaxy S is better (imho): the musicplayer both in terms of UI and sound. The photogallery; oh, and the Galaxy S comes with a great office suite and file explorer. (I cannot begin to grasp why HTC's top handsets ship without a file explorer!!!)
