Samsung Galaxy S III: biggest selling phone of the year already

Samsung Galaxy S III: biggest selling phone of the year alreadyThe Samsung Galaxy S III set pre-order records at the Carphone Warehouse, and a Sammo exec claimed the super-smartphone had racked up nine million pre-orders across the globe.

It’ll come as no surprise, then, to hear that the Samsung Galaxy S III is – according to Phones 4u – the biggest selling phone of the year.

The declaration came on the Samsung Galaxy S III’s day of release, which means it took roughly 24 hours to outsell the likes of the HTC One X.

Phones 4u attributes part of the Galaxy S III’s success to customers on its Just Upgrade My Phone (JUMP) contracts. JUMP essentially allows customers to upgrade their phones every six months.

“A high proportion of the sales made were via JUMP, with new customers starting up contracts and pre-existing JUMP customers also coming in store to take advantage of the flexible upgrade and get their hands on the Galaxy S III,” yelled Scott Hooton, Commercial Officer at Phones 4u.

Not too shabby at all, especially considering the pebble blue Samsung Galaxy S III, and the 32GB white unit, are reportedly in short supply.
