Samsung Galaxy S III to be Galaxy S 3D? Samsung still hasn’t made anything official, but we’re fully expecting the Samsung Galaxy S III to touch down at February’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

That’s exactly what Korea’s ETNews is bawling, and it’s also speculating about the, uhm, specs. See what I did there? Sorry.

According to the Korean site, the Samsung Galaxy S III will have a Super AMOLED Plus display, quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM, with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) in the captain’s chair.

Interestingly – and I don’t mean that in a good way – ETNews reckons the Samsung Galaxy S III will boast 3D capabilities in some capacity. It’s not clear if there’ll be a 3D variant, or if all Samsung Galalxy S IIIs will be autostereoscopic. Good God.

This isn't the first we've heard of a Samsung Galaxy 3D. It's been pretty quiet on that particular front recently, so we figured the South Koreans had seen sense and ditched their 3D aspirations.

I’ve made my feelings on 3D quite clear, so I’ll be happy if this turns out to be nonsense. Pass the salt, please.

Mobile World Congress 2012 gets underway on February 27, but we figure Samsung will hold a cheeky event the day before, as per tradition.

Also agree with Treab. What's the point of those specs? Does Angry Birds and Doodle Jump need a quad-core to run?

I mean granted it means bigger and better games such as GTA coming to our devices which is brilliant.. but where do we draw the line? their are people out there with laptops with the specs of netbooks or less... and we have phones with 4 times the power... MADNESS

Maybe theyre trying to get to a point where within Android the specs are hardcore enough for you to boot a Windows Verual machine :-p

No way this will include 3D.. Or even quad core
it will have a 2ghz dual core exynos most likely

Do it and I'll be back to HTC . Quad-core Exynos processor or not, I refuse to buy a 3D phone.

Jim, apparently those A15 chips aren't going into production until the second half of 2012, well after Samsung need to release the S3.

Treab, that's only if Samsung make the S3 3D, which I seriously doubt. There were rumours of a 3D version of the S2 months ago, that never came to fruition.

now now matt i have the prototype here... it comes with a 5mp camera and a 3d screen enjoy ...

Talking of prototypes, there's been a photo leaked that was taken with a Galaxy S3, it's pretty awful to be honest but interesting nonetheless. I feel the camera firmware still has a fair way to go .

thats the image i saw earlier...a 5mp camera probably fake..

or samsung is really heading cheap/downhill.

You guys are all confused, the phone will support 3D, but only when piped to a (probably Samsung) 3D TV.

At least that's what the prototype I have does ;-) Maybe Treab has a different one.

Yes, new 3D devices are ok. If you don't need 3D, don't use it. (I don't use games, some don't use GPS, etc.)
I love it to film my kids in 3D. It adds a lot to the memory.

Haters are crazy. Why hate if you don't have to use it / buy it.
My phone has many features I don't use.
I have the Optimus 3D of LG right now. It's awesome. If Samsung would come with a better 3D phone I'll get it immediately.

Can the anti-3D people finally stop their silly crusade against it. I'm not crusading against pink female phones either.

I think they are definetly pushing the hardware specs so phones can drive 1080p external screens at full res and work like a full blown computer.
As for 3d screen, as long as it works well in 2d mode its a good addition, if it dont work well in 2d mode then its a backward step.

Re Treb. If its a 5mp camers with good optics it may well outperform so called "Super cameras" at 8mp.
