Already pre-ordered your Samsung Galaxy S III in anticipation of its release later this month? Well, you’re not alone, fella. Not by a long shot.
An unnamed Samsung exec has reportedly been boasting to the Korea Economic Daily that a whopping nine million Samsung Galaxy S III units have been pre-ordered across the globe.
To give that figure some context, the humble Samsung Galaxy S II became the South Korean manufacturer’s fastest selling phone when it dropped last year, shifting three million units in 55 days.
As of September last year, 10 million Samsung Galaxy S II units were said to have shipped. Of course, that’s shipped as opposed to sold, so the Galaxy S III is roughly set to do in one day what took the Galaxy S II five months.
And that’s all the more impressive when you consider our Transatlantic cousins are still awaiting details of the Samsung Galaxy S III, and as such are currently unable to pre-order.
The official Samsung Galaxy S III UK release date is May 30, but Sammo is allowing some retailers to start fulfilling pre-orders the night before.
