Samsung Galaxy S III wireless charger coming in… September?

Samsung Galaxy S III wireless charger coming in… September? At the Galaxy S III launch event last week (was it really just a week ago?), Samsung also unveiled a host of accessories, including a wireless charging dock.

Well, if you quite fancy said accessory you might be in for a long wait, as word on the street is: the wireless charger ain’t expected till September – some four months after the Samsung Galaxy S III touches down.

That’s what UK retailer MobileFun tells Unwired View, at least, while promising it’s: “working hard to source an unofficial wireless charging dock, which will be available a lot sooner than the Official Samsung one.”

MobileFun neglected to mention prices for either of the wireless chargers – official or unofficial.

Nor did Samsung specify release dates or prices for the Samsung Galaxy S III accessories on display last week.

Other Samsung Galaxy S III accessory highlights include the C-Pen stylus, AllShare Cast Hub for beaming stuff to your TV, and a waterproof cover.

It's the same thing the Pre had, isn't it?

yes, afaik... so It's induction. That dock is still wired. Instead of the phone, you plug in a more expensive charger. What progress....

Yeah, it's a joke. The phone still needs to stand on the charging platform, it's not as if you can just walk into your house and your phone will be charging in your pocket. So, you still need to leave the phone in one place to charge and you still have to remember to put it in that place to charge it. Oh, not forgetting the fact you'd have to buy an (undoubtedly expensive) "wireless" charging platform/pad/unit.

So all you save is the time it takes to plug in a MicroUSB cable...hmm...that privilege certainly isn't worth any money to me.

On a slightly different scale, I would really like an induction pad to cover the top of my bedside table so that it would charge my phone/laptop/any other device I might have.
I like the idea of going to bed, dropping my phone on the side and the alarm automatically setting itself.

Are those few seconds of effort worth the cost? Of course not :)
