In the hukd thread someone mentions the S2 at same price at o2 could be worth a look too.

Why on earth would you get a SGS2 when you can get this for the same price?

Because it has a better CPU, better GPU, a better camera, expandable memory, a non-pentile display and it's ridiculosuly easy to flash CM10 to the S2 removing the GNex' Jelly Bean advantage.

S2 is the better phone, by quite a considerable margin.

Pondlife  Aug. 23, 2012 at 14:56

Yep those reasons for a start, also I'd add it's a slightly more convenient size.

Actually they've got the same CPU. The GPU is slightly better on the SGS2. You don't get the stock experience on SGS2 which for me is a major win for the Nexus.

Stop, you're making a fool of yourself. The i9100 does not have the same CPU as the GNex, the GNex has a Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 SoC, which has a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The i9100 has an Exynos 4210 SoC with a Mali 400 GPU. The Exynos is more powerful than the OMAP, that's just a fact.

Did you read the bit I wrote about CM10 on the S2?

Decided I'd just end up in a personal preference argument...this is a guy who reckons the S2 and GNex have the same CPU, after all ;).

Well in fairness CM10 isn't very stock, but dare say there are other stock style roms for S2, admittedly I'd rather go CM too just as I would on a Nexus..

I could have started a redundant argument inadvertently as I didn't actually check o2 to see if they were right about it being 299. Hmmm. Checked and it is right.

CM10 looks pretty stock, though. It just has extra features which you can use if you want to. Surely the whole point of Android is customisation and personalisation?

Oh and yeah, I think you can get AOSP for the S2, though why you'd use a ROM with the same UI, less features and worse developers behind it than CM10 baffles me.

Still, the S2 is the more powerful device and the one I'd choose.

CyanogenMod is not stock you ****. Custom ROM's are hardly the most stable either. Why mess around with a phone risking bricking it to get a ROM when you get it all on the Nexus with no risks. Have a search on Google for Samsung Galaxy S2 vs Samsung Galaxy Nexus and you'll see you are the fool saying the S2 is a better when most reviews say the Nexus is better.

MOD EDIT: Don't be rude.

I got 6 words in and stopped reading. No-one starts anything rational by calling someone a that word.

Even with the Nexus I'd put CM10 on it personally and oh the risk, lol bless.
Were the reviews just comparing phones or ICS to GB too, launch reviews aren't that meaningful now.
Feeling the need to justify a purchase? I see advantages and disadvantages to each.
Which after your call of looking for reviews is how geekaphone sees it too http://geekaphone.com/compare/Samsung-GALAXY-Nexus-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-S-II

People feel that way after they've heard what I have to say :p.

Also, for once, we agree (about them being wrong, before you misconstrue that).

Google Nexus was already crap when it was released - it did not get any better. £300 is a rip off - it's been $350 in US for quite a while. Back in June I did not feel like spending $350 to get it due to slow SGX540 GPU. CPU is good, but using 2 year old GPU was a big mistake.
There is no noticeable difference between ICS and Jelly Bean - to end user they are identical. Even in software GNex does not have any advantages.
