It’s been a while since we’ve featured some good old-fashioned scaremongering here on Mobot, but we’ve got a little beauty right here.

Bogdan Alecu, a system admin at Dutch IT company Levi9, has been keeping something under his hat for over a year: bombarding specific Nexus handsets with dozens of flash SMS messages can CAUSE THE DEVICES TO ACT ERRATICALLY.

One of the perks of Nexus smartphones, in addition to generally being quite wallet-friendly these days, is the lure of lengthy software support, what with the stock Android and what have you.

Alas, that’s not the case with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Now just two years old, Google has confirmed that the handset won’t be updated to KitKat Android 4.4.

What’s next for Nexus?

Time was, Samsung was very much Google’s favourite son, with the South Koreans churning out the Google Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus back-to-back in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

But with Google adopting a phone/small tablet/large tablet formation as of last year, there’s lots of Mountain View-flavoured affection to go around, the question being: who’s next for Nexus loving?

We’re hearing that Jelly Bean Android 4.2 has started rolling out for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, while it’s also available to download for the Asus-built Google Nexus 7.

Despite being laughed off by Google just the other day, the LG Nexus rumours are swirling swirlier than ever.

John Rumour appears to have settled on "LG Nexus 4" (coming after the Google Nexus One, Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus), and some guys in Eastern Europe have gotten their hands on some sort of prototype.

Upgraded Samsung Galaxy Nexus 'Superior' on the way?

There have been plenty of little nuggets of info that have been spewed out the sides of the Apple v Samsung legal battle machine, such as Samsung's claim that sales of the flagship Galaxy Nexus it makes for Google have been “minuscule”.

Well, hold that thought, as it seems a refresh may be on the way. A spec list for what appears to be an upgraded version of the Samsung-made Google handset have hit the web bearing the code name GT-i9260 – or the Superior.

There’s no shortage of top tier Samsung Galaxy devices on the market at present, such as the Galaxy Note phablet, the Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) flagship Galaxy Nexus, and the spanking new Samsung Galaxy S III. Phew.

However, the South Korean manufacturer is a firm believer that more is more, and as such it’s promising a ‘major’ product announcement on August 15.
