Samsung Galaxy S III follows the Note’s lead

Samsung Galaxy S III follows the Note’s lead

Ok, just to be clear: that’s a Samsung Galaxy Note you’re looking at, not a Galaxy S III, but you knew that already, right?

However, if the latest rumours are true, the Samsung Galaxy S III mightn't look massively different from the Samsung Galaxy Note, thanks to an eleventh hour design change.

You lost the $1,000 Windows Phone challenge. Why? Just because

Lewis Curdie  Mar. 27, 2012 at 14:00

You might remember we mentioned the Windows Phone Challenge at Mobile World Congress. Essentially you could pit your phone against a WP7 device at a particular task (carefully chosen by them, of course), with €100 up for grabs.

Well, Skattertech’s Sahas Katta looked to take advantage of a similar promotion in Microsoft’s Santa Clara store, but – by the sounds of things – got royally screwed.

How does the HTC One X stack up against the Galaxy Nexus? (from MWC 2012)

How does the HTC One X stack up against the Galaxy Nexus? (from MWC 2012)

Liwen Guo  Mar. 1, 2012 at 23:56

With a new simplified range of devices, HTC is looking to steal back some marketshare from its rivals, especially after a pretty lackluster fourth quarter that ended a two-year growth streak. The One X is the flagship of the three new Android smartphones HTC has introduced at MWC, and and while it is pretty impressive on its own, how does it stack up against the Galaxy Nexus?

Apple trying to get Samsung Galaxy Nexus sales banned in USA

That awkward moment when you have two kids fighting and you really want to just bang their heads together? Yep, that.

In this case, it's Samsung and Apple who are increasing their tit-for-tat spats. Apple is on the warpath in today's edition, trying to get Samsung's Galaxy Nexus (ie. THE flagship Android device) banned from sale in the US of A.

White Samsung Galaxy Nexus: out next week!

White Samsung Galaxy Nexus: out next week!

Martin James  Feb. 7, 2012 at 10:30

If you've been waiting on the arrival of the white Samsung Galaxy Nexus, you may well have noticed that the rumoured February 6 arrival date has now been and gone and you're not in fact holding one in your hands.

But the good news is that Samsung has now confirmed the white Galaxy Nexus launch date directly, and it's February 13 – that's next Monday in case you're not so good at working the calendar.

Ice Cream Sandwich on just 1% of Android handsets

Ice Cream Sandwich on just 1% of Android handsets

Lewis Curdie  Feb. 3, 2012 at 19:00

It’s the problem that just won’t go away: Android is well and truly fragmented like a mother humper.

The Android Developer chaps have posted fresh stats on Android fragmentation (sorry – distribution), and Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) appears on a paltry 1% of devices. Incredibly, that’s the same as Donut (Android 1.6).

1.5GHz Samsung Galaxy Nexus on the way?

I still find myself wanting to call the Samsung Galaxy Nexus the Google Nexus Prime. Go figure.

Anyways, the rumour mill is pumping out fresh talk of an upgraded Samsung Galaxy Nexus, with a faster processor and possibly a better camera. Très intéressant, as the Germans say.

If you’re sick of hearing about Samsung and Apple’s various legal squabbles, spare a thought for Germany’s Mannheim Regional Court.

Hours after rejecting one of Samsung’s many motions against Apple, Mannheim Regional Court held a hearing on a spanking new complaint from the Californians.

Galaxy Nexus Toolkit unlocks, roots and flashes custom recovery in one click

So, you've gotten your shiny new Galaxy Nexus, but want to get the full potential out of it? Sure, it already comes with the newest 4.0 version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, and as a Nexus device it's going to receive direct updates from Google. However, many enthusiasts can't stand the default "stock" ROM and instead want to flash custom ROMs, which usually fix bugs, improve speed and sometimes come with other bells and whistles like custom themes or more advanced settings options.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus to come in 32GB and white versions

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has been out at least six weeks now. And you know what's coming next: Yup. A white version. Predictable, eh?

According to both Expansys and Handtec - two of the big SIM-free providers - the clinical-hue model will be expected in Blighty very soon.
