I'd like to try one. Would I buy one? No. Don't think so. TBH I find the Note 2 'phablet' of more interest.

I have to agree with Jan here. The Note 10.1 doesn't interest me nearly as much as the smaller Note 2. Since I mainly use my phone for non-phone call related things, a phablet device seems perfect for me. Also, my "aging" S2 could be replaced without me feeling like I was wasting my money, by any great phone which is released now. Saying that, it really would have to be great, the S2 with Jelly Bean is a hard act to beat.

Yeah but you wouldn't buy the Note 2 either Jan :)
Nor would I tbh
Neither the Note 10.1 nor the Note 2 seem comfortable size for me.

I seriously considered the original note after I'd had a play with it. The problem was, it was stupidly expensive and I'd used my VAT claiming allowance for the year (convincing my boss that having two £500 phones in the space of 6 months was necessary to improve my work, was an impossible task).

This year, though, I've not bought anything which I've claimed on and by the time the N2 comes out, my S2 will be 18 months old (so it'd be perfectly reasonable to upgrade, if I wanted to).

Yeah edited that as was writing and finished it around same time you did. Isn't first one pentile though, I just can't get around the size of it.
Guessing this one will start stupidly expensive too. Long wait for the S4 though I guess.

Yes, it is Pentile, but it was the first UK smartphone with an HD display, so I was willing to overlook the fact it wasn't RGB. I really hope the new Note is SAMOLED+ HD, we know Samsung can make it on bigger displays, the Tab 7.7 is SAMOLED+.

I can knock the VAT off this one, though, so the high price is less relevant. It is a long wait for the S4, though we've not heard a lot about this year's Nexus phone, that could be good.

True but that is likely to have similar resolution in a rather smaller screen, be interesting to see what they come up with.
And it being so long since the last phone too, and still being able to get decent wedge for the S2.
True, and there's still (slight) possibility of more than one Nexus phone.

It will be interesting to see how they improve over the original Note, bar making it quad-core, as the original Note already has a 1280x800 display (still the highest resolution of any phone), 8mp camera and good battery life.

A 4412 SoC and some software tweaks aren't going to cut it for me.
