The Galaxy S III may be the figurehead of Samsung's Galaxy vessel thanks to its direct rivalry with the iPhone, but the Galaxy Note phablet is no mean performer in its own right – so long as you're happy slotting something the size of a small billboard into your jeans pocket, that is.
Well, loosen the belt a notch or two, because the even bigger Galaxy Note 2 will officially go on sale in the UK on Monday, October 1 – less than one week away.
When the first Galaxy Note launched a year ago, it was described as everything from “quirky” to “interesting”, with a fair bit of “ridiculous” thrown in for good measure.
But even the most optimistic of Samsungites can't have expected the Note 2 to have been such a success, and a follow-up quickly became a no-brainer.
The Galaxy Note 2 was shown off for the first time at IFA in Berlin last month, and the big news (quite literally) was Samsung's decision to go all-in on the “bigger is better” philosophy.
The new model boasts a 5.5in display – up from the already massive 5.3in of the current model – and it's one of Sammy's Super AMOLED jobs as well, so the increased screen size won't leave you short of clarity or quality.
Add in a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the versatility/gimmick of the S-Pen stylus system and you have a mobile heavyweight on your hands in more than just the literal sense.
If that floats your boat, you can snap one up for yourself from Monday, with all the networks on board along with Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse. Alternatively, you can get one straight from the mother ship by making your way to the Samsung Brand Store in Westfield, Stratford City.
