Should I go for a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Samsung Galaxy S III?

I quite like the idea of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2's 5.5 inch display, but are there any reasons why the Samsung Galaxy S III is supposed to be 'better'?

Jan, I got 30 seconds into that advert and got bored. What does it actually show the N2 doing?

You will never know :p

No. IMHO, if you can handle the size of the SGS3, the Note 2 will probably not kill you.
Whatever little advantages the SGS3 has, the Note 2 offers enough extra features (+ the extra screen wroom) to make up for them.
That's my 5 cents.

Well the s3 wins on cost currently at least...
Probably has better third party rom support too, but no advantage in any spec contest, size alone would put me off Note2 though

Thought the note 2 had 2 gig ram?

Pondlife  Oct. 5, 2012 at 00:34

Where did anyone say it doesn't?

nobody said it but i did read your post wrong tho :D

I'd go for the Note 2, if I was going to buy one. The S3 is beyond being practically sized, so the extra heft of the N2 shouldn't bother you that much.

Go for iPhone 5

Oh, I forgot about price. Sod it, they're both expensive, get the Note.

Note 2 £470 at amazon.de which narrows the price gap

The more I see of the Note 2, the more tempting it becomes. Quite some nifty and (for Android) elegant features. But but but.... size matters. Maybe in combination with a small dumbphone for calls and texts? Hm...

Pondlife  Oct. 7, 2012 at 13:33

Seems slightly easier than the first one to handle.
That would need two sims though? More costly?

Not for me with Irish prepay sims... but yes, for many folks it might increase costs.
As an only-phone I still find it too big, although the moveable keyboard apparently makes it possible to type with one paw.
If my other choices were 4.8-inchers I'd go for the Note 2, though. (and if I really like Android :p )

I'm so tempted...though I want to see these "5" (or just one...) Nexus devices first. A Nexus Optimus G would be very, very impressive. My only reservation with Nexus devices of old has been the mediocre hardware, the Optimus G solves that.

Incidentally - while we're on size: I just realised that my N9 is just a tiny bit smaller than my old HD2... weird. I would've sworn in any court that the HD2 was huge in comparison....

Did you see that 7 minute 'ad' on youtube? It shows off the Note 2's known and 'hidden' features... holy cow. It is amazing.

7 minute ad...that should answer whether I've bothered watching it or not.

I know 2 guys who own a Note 2, and didn't realise what they could do until they watched this :))

32GB is on the lower end of acceptable, IMO.

wait... are you talking about LG?

I can live with that. I'd rip touchwiz off it anyway.
