On Tuesday we were hearing that Sony had a monstrous 6in smartphone in the pipeline, though I proposed that that mightn’t seem overly huge come late 2013, particularly considering the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will inevitably be here, bigger and better than ever.
The rumour mill is backing up that notion, with the suggestion that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will weigh in with a 6.3in display. Good lord.
The original Samsung Galaxy Note was considered huge, and it was a comparatively modest 5.3in. The recent Samsung Galaxy Note 2 stretched a tiny bit to 5.5in.
If the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 display size is indeed 6.3in, that’ll be pushing out of phablet territory and into tablet city.
The 6.3in Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumour comes from The Korea Times, and is delivered in a matter-of-fact fashion as a footnote in a massive article about LCD and OLED.
TKT says: “In a related note, the world’s biggest technology company has been developing the Galaxy Note III with a 6.3-inch screen using an OLED display,” crediting “officials from a local parts suppliers”.
Man, 6.3in. That’s twice the display size, diagonally, of many smaller smartphones. What do you think, troops? Too big?
