Samsung has all but confirmed that the Galaxy Note 4 is launching on September 3 (“Note the date!”), not that there was much doubt, so the obvious question now is: “When can I buy it?”
Answer: possibly within a couple of weeks of the launch event – that’s according to a cheeky wee rascal who claims to work for Samsung.
The rascal in question has relayed an internal communication from, purportedly, the Marketing Manager for Samsung Telecommunications America.
In said communication, employees are informed of a PTO (paid time off) blackout between September 3 and September 7, which is the week of IFA 2014 in Berlin. Makes sense to us.
The second blackout period is what’s really interesting though. No further holidays will be approved between September 15 and September 28, which implies something big is going down.
The logical inference is the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, perhaps alongside the Galaxy Alpha, the latter supposedly going head-to-head with the 4.7in iPhone 6 (ahem).
If true, it’d be a pretty quick turnaround for Samsung, but it does make sense that the world’s top mobile manufacturer would want to steal some of the limelight from the iPhone 6 launch – also vaguely scheduled for mid-September.
With Sony tipped to unveil an array of goodies at IFA 2014 also, it’s shaping up to be a busy freakin’ month.
