Samsung Galaxy Note snapped running Ice Cream Sandwich

Samsung Galaxy Note snapped running Ice Cream SandwichWoah, we’re back to Facebook again. Earlier today we visited Asus’ pages for Transformer Prime update stuff, and now it’s Samsung’s turn.

The Samsung Galaxy Note, Sammo’s smartphone-tablet hybrid, is shown running none other than – yep, as I said in the headline – Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). Huh?

At present, the Samsung Galaxy Note is one of many, many devices still rocking Gingerbread (Android 2.3), patiently awaiting the update to the most recent version of Android.

The latest from Sammo is that the Samsung Galaxy Note will be served Ice Cream Sandwich in Q2, which could of course be any time from next week till the end of freakin’ June. Vague enough for ya?

The snapshot might suggest it’s closer to the former, or it could be some render type effort with no meaning in the real world. Y’know, where we live.

The latest figures from Android Developers (a few weeks old now, right enough) show Ice Cream Sandwich running on just 1.6% of devices (based on visits to Google Play), however there’s already talk of Jelly Bean landing as early as Q3. Great stuff.

Samsung say "sold", but | bet you're right. I suspect shipped/'sold' to networks....

Your post is very good. It was very well authored and easy to understand of samsung galaxy note. And I really like the stuff you put in here.

I raised the ship/sold point because exactly one month ago Samsung said they had sold 2 million:

"Samsung says it has already sold 2 million Notes since last October’s launch"
http://www.forbes.com/sites/parmyolson/2012/02/28/why-get-a-tablet-when-you-can-have-a-phablet/

I find it hard to believe they took 6 months to sell 2 million and then suddenly sell another 3 million in a single month.

True, although from what I read, it caused quite a stir in the US - and as the Softpedia article says it's a big hit in Korea...But who knows, eh ;)

The Note sold 700K in South Korea over 3 months: http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-sales-skyrocket-50562/

3 million in a month would be off the charts, even Samsung's most successful phone the S2 took 55 days to get there.

Either this is Samsung's most successful launch ever or someone is being slightly creative with the numbers.

6 months? 4 months oct-feb?

Only came out last week in the US from what I can see, though that makes it harder to have sold 3m in month

Oops last month. not week, or was that just AT&T?

Oops you are correct it only came out on 29 Oct. Still from 4 months- 2 million to 1 month-3 million..

It came out on Feb 19 in the US and is still an AT&T exclusive, which makes reaching those sales even harder.

That US launch could help it shift rather more in the last month though.
Odd that not even out in Japan yet.
