Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs tipped to include ‘unbreakable’ display
Hey guy. Remember Back in June last year there was lots of talk of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 supposedly rocking an “unbreakable” display?
Well, obviously that didn’t happen, but you’ll never guess what; the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is tipped to rock – that’s right – a display that be unbreakable.

These days Samsung rumours pretty much equals SamMobile, and today the skinny is that Samsung is planning on hitting IFA 2013 in September with a Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy Note III launch double.
The Berlin tech show has seen Samsung do plenty of business in the past, so it's certainly not a stretch to believe, even if the rumour comes with the usual lack of source-naming beyond saying it comes from “an insider”.

We're expecting Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie to debut at Google's I/O in May, and a Samsung insider has just ratcheted up the intrigue by revealing which of the company's handsets are in line for an update.

The rumour mill has painted a fairly vivid picture of the imminent Samsung Galaxy S IV, so much so that there’ll (probably) be few surprises at the March 14 launch event. Incidentally, that’s one week from today. Excited?
Not forgetting Samsung’s other flagship, the Galaxy Note, we’re hearing that the third installment in the phablet series might have a 5.9in display.

Firstly, searching through our news archives for these stories was a bit of a nightmare, as popping in “fire” returned a billion Amazon Kindle Fire-related articles. Dear devs, can we get some Boolean operators up in da hizzouse? Thanks.
Anyway, yes, earlier this afternoon I was saying that a Samsung Galaxy Note battery had reportedly caught fire, leaving a South Korean gentleman with a massive (ahem) one-inch burn. As such, I figured I’d take a moment to recount similar tales from the past few years.

And now, time for a spot of comedy (no offense to the South Korean chap who’s supposedly nursing a burnt leg).
There’s no shortage of crazy stories about smartphones/batteries going on fire and what not, and now we have the second such story from South Korea in the space of a year.

With all due respect to the Dell Streak 5 and Streak 7, Samsung recently proved that there’s a market for gigantic smartphone/tablet hybrids – or “phablets” – with the 5.3in Galaxy Note.
It was somewhat of a surprise success, initially being considered a niche device, but now everyone and their dog is getting in on the action. Indeed, ABI Research tells us to brace for what it calls a “phablet avalanche” this year.

At present, there are three members in Samsung’s Galaxy Note family, namely the original 5.3in Galaxy Note, the 5.5in Galaxy Note 2 (pictured), and the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.
The latter was unveiled at last year’s Mobile World Congress, and we’re told to expect a fourth member to appear at this year’s show.

Samsung's Galaxy Note – the original “phablet” – was big, and its successor, the Galaxy Note 2, is even bigger.
So imagine our surprise to hear talk that the Galaxy Note 3 is supposedly going to be even bigger still, with a 6.3in screen size, and more importantly potentially with Samsung's new eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor.

It’s probably fair to say that the original Samsung Galaxy Note exceeded all expectations, shifting five million units in five months.
Its successor, the aptly named Samsung Galaxy Note 2, achieved the same feat in just two months, and now we’re hearing it’s hitting – or about to hit – all sorts of other crazy records.
