With the Samsung Galaxy S5 almost being the unofficial flagship Android device, it’s been disappointing to see the phone beaten to the Lollipop punch several times over, thanks in part to Sammo's TouchWiz UI.
But dry those tears, Samsung Galaxy S5 users, as the S5 Lollipop update has reportedly commenced its UK invasion.
That’s the good word over on SamMobile, which credits, er, itself, apparently. Nice work, guys.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update had already reached Poland, Russia, Malaysia and Spain, and it’s finally here in the United Kingdom.
There are two ways to install the Galaxy S5 Lollipop update, firstly using Samsung’s KIES software on your computer, or by tapping Settings > System > About device > Software update > Update on your phone.
Curiously, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update appears to be based on 5.0 (LRX21T) and not the newer 5.0.2 (LRX22G), though there might’ve been some behind-the-scenes merging going on. Maybe.
In any case, Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update features include Material Design, Project Volta for more efficient battery use, fluid transitions, multiple user accounts, guest mode, lockscreen and heads-up notifications, and new drivers for the fingerprint scanner.
