Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-registration numbers impress Carphone Warehouse greatly

Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-registration numbers impress Carphone Warehouse greatlyCast your filthy minds back to March 2013, and you might recall Carphone Warehouse saying that Samsung Galaxy S4 pre-registrations were “off the charts”, easily putting Galaxy S3 interest to shame.

It’s much the same story this year, with Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-registrations already surpassing those of the Galaxy S4.

That’s the story according to Pocket-lint, which in turn credits, er, Carphone Warehouse.

The retailer says the Samsung Galaxy S5 could become a "record breaking handset before it even reaches stores".

In terms of numbers (or percentages, at least), we’re told Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-registrations are already up 130% from last year, and that’s compared to a full 10-day period for the Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S5 was only launched on Monday.

It’s a similar story across the Atlantic, with T-Mobile USA’s CMO, Mike Sievert, tweeting: “100,000+ pre-registrations in 2 days is a new record at @TMobile #GalaxyS5 !!”

You can “register your interest” over at Carphone Warehouse right now, with no commitment or deposit whatsoever. In return, you’ll receive “the latest news, offers and those vital order dates direct to your interest.”

Samsung Galaxy S5 price is tipped to start at £600 SIM free, though potentially conflicting rumours suggest the South Koreans are aiming to price it lower than the Galaxy S4 was at launch.

As for Samsung Galaxy S5 specs, you're getting a 5.1in 1080p display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, KitKat Android 4.4.2, a fingerprint scanner and IP67-certified resistance to dust and water.

Galaxy S 4 pre-registration records over here...

I'd take the numbers with a pinch of salt, the numbers are all based on S3 owners who have finished their 24 month contract and are in the renewal stage. Given the uptake on S3 it's not surprising that the S5 will do more numbers on S4 as there is more users looking for a new term. I think it'll come in at £549 SIM free.
