If anything, the annual Samsung Galaxy S refresh is inspiring more discussion than usual; the Galaxy S5 was reportedly a sales disappointment, and as such the South Koreans are said to be developing the Galaxy S6 from the ground up under Project Zero.
With the launch perhaps just a matter of weeks away, this latest leak from China claims to show the imminent Samsung Galaxy S6 in all its glory. Really?
While the picture appears to have taken on a strange yellow hue, we’re told that we’re seeing an all-new coloured front for the Galaxy S series. Here: fluorescent yellow. Eh, yum?
Making the leak seem even less plausible, accompanying Samsung Galaxy S6 specs include a 5.5in display (ok, that’s one possibility) with a 1080p resolution – not QHD. Throw in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, and we’re definitely sceptical.
The notion of a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is wheeled out again, and the specs are emphatically more high-end. They include a 5.3in QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, and 4GB of RAM. There’s mention of an iris scanner, too.
Unless the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is promoted as the flagship device, and not some bizarre-o niche handset, this seems pretty unlikely. Why put all the good eggs in a basket that’s only going to shift a few units?
And considering the sales disappointment that was the Samsung Galaxy S5, is the Samsung Galaxy S6 really going to stick with the same resolution and processor? Is fluorescent yellow the way to save a dying brand?
Nah, let’s file this one under Probably Not, though stranger things have happened.
