Samsung Galaxy SII - App to reduce screen brightness?

This question disappeared yesterday, I think, so:
I'm currently playing with the Samsung Galaxy SII, and though the screen is nice enough, it is way way way too bright in low light or at night.
I don't know what Samsung think "0" means :)
I tried Dimmer from the market, but it doesn't seem to go to below Samsung's Zero...
Anyone?
Thanks
(and no, my Android-dislike hasn't disappeared overnight :p Just playing with it.

Have you tried 'Screen Filter'?
It's suppoed to go from 100% to complete Black.

Be interested to see how you get on with that. Of course if you don't reply it could be that you've turned it all the way dowb the Black and can't turn it up anymore to see what you're doing ;)

Already installed.
Does exactly what I needed it to do.
Handy widget, too.
Thanks, mrew42 :)

So can you reduce it down from the Migraine inducing to the still readable ok? I've got an HD2 with Froyo that i've been playing with lately and I have to say although I wasn't massively interested in a large screen real estate, I really like the 4.3" display on this.

Yes, unlike other apps, this adds a layer ontop of the screen. Ideal for reading at night, or very bright web pages that scorch your cornea.

As a by the way: I have to admit the SGSII is quite a nice device - massively better than the original Galaxy S. But I still find the battery cover, charger etc are shoddy for a flagship.

On the plus side: with wifi off, and emails on manual sync, but quite a bit of browsing etc, I got over 24 hrs out of it. But thanks to horrendous weather I haven't used it outdoors, yet - so the screen's been on '0' most of the time - it's so bright LOL
