Samsung guy: litigation nonsense is detrimental to innovation

Samsung guy: litigation nonsense is detrimental to innovationIs anyone not sick of all this patent and design-related litigation nonsense? Seems like the real winners are the lawyers, with many a case resulting in next to nothing.

Echoing those thoughts is Samsung’s David Eun, who describes the ongoing litigation as a “loss” for innovation. Damn straight, bro.

According to LinkedIn, David is currently serving as Samsung’s Executive Vice President and Head of Open Innovation Center (OIC).

The miniature (i.e. one-word) quote comes courtesy of D:Dive Into Media 2013, and is ably relayed by Engadget.

David was responding to a question about Samsung’s relationship with Apple (essentially they continue to sue the pants off of each other, while Apple is one of Samsung’s biggest clients), and while he wouldn’t comment on specifics, he clearly wasn’t impressed with the litigation stuff.

Unfortunately, JK Shin feels quite differently, declaring last year that there’d be “No compromise!” in the war with Apple. Sigh.

Meanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook said last year that he hates litigation, and just yesterday I was scribbling that he’d supposedly been opposed to suing Samsung back when Jobs was in charge.
