Samsung Hercules is a 4.5in smartphone demigod

Samsung Hercules is a 4.5in smartphone demigodSamsung is clearly having fun pumping out slight variants of its flagship Galaxy S II. The Swedes have the Samsung Galaxy Z, and there’s the Galaxy R coming soon to the UK.

Over in the States, T-Mobile is being treated to a little something called the Samsung Hercules, and it sounds freakin’ awesome.

Aesthetically, the Hercules is like a cross between the Galaxy S II and the Samsung-developed Nexus S. He’s a handsome chap, no doubt.

Some specs remain the same, such as the 8MP camera and 1080p video capture. The processor will again be a 1.2GHz dual-core affair, however it might be Qualcomm instead of Samsung’s Exynos.

The big difference is the screen size. The Samsung Hercules stretches the Galaxy S II’s 4.3in display to an even meatier 4.5in.

Will we see it here in the UK? No official news just yet, but fingers crossed.

but 4.5 inches is probably pushing it in terms of how big you want a phone screen to be? i'd like to try one out and see but i don't think it'd be practical to have a phone that big

4.5" is becoming borderline pocketable, but I'll save my reservations until all the details are announced. After all, it could end up being narrower than the HTC HD2, and people used that just fine.

Surely it will have terrible battery life?
