We first heard of Samsung’s Olympic phone at the beginning of April, and the manufacturer recently revealed more details about its plans at an Olympic campaign press conference.
The exact specs aren’t known just yet, but we’re hoping we don’t see a repeat of the Union Jack-sporting Alcatel, recently launched to coincide with the royal wedding.
David Song, managing director of Samsung UK and Ireland, promises: "Even if [fans] are not in the stadiums, they will be able to see [the events] on their devices."
However, Gyehyun Kwon, vice president and head of Worldwide Sports Marketing, conceded that the infrastructure to allow seamless streaming still needs some work.
"This is not one of the easiest things," explained Kwon. "We need a lot of collaborations because we are hardware providers. We need to get the carriers and the software companies all together."
Kwon added: “After this Olympic Games, we want to be recognised by British people as one of the most loved brands.” Bless.
