A Samsung ad titled “Why Wait? The Next Big Thing Is Already Here” has gone viral on t’interweb, with hundreds of thousands of views on Google’s popular video streaming thingy, YouTube.
The ad essentially pokes fun at Apple fanboys queuing for the latest device, and rips on the iPhone 4S’ specs. Regardless of how you feel about Apple, it’s pretty funny.
The queuing fanboys spot various people with Galaxy S IIs, but dismiss the super-smartphone when they realise it’s manufactured by Samsung, one of Apple’s biggest rivals.
“I could never get a Samsung. I’m creative,” muses one pretentious douche bag, apparently using a MacBook Pro while in line.
“Dude, you’re a barista,” points out his chum.
Samsung's chief marketing guy, Todd Pendleton, tells Business Insider: "Just from initial reactions, even Apple owners and lovers are talking about this in a positive way. We're seeing positive quotes from people out there who may not be willing to buy our product."
Brian Wallace, Samsung's VP of strategic marketing, adds: "We're not targeting fanboys. We're not going to convert them. We're using them as a foil to target current Android users upgrading to a new phone and people entering the smartphone market for the first time."
The ad is due to start airing in the US on Thanksgiving. Hey, that’s today!
