Could the Samsung Omnia 7 soon become a collector's item? It's a strange thought, but not necessarily one that isn't true.
It seems that stocks of the Omnia 7 are running low, and that no more are incoming as Samsung prepares to launch its successor once Windows Phone 7.5 arrives in the next few months.
None of the Windows Phone 7 smartphones have sold in big amounts, but the Omnia 7 has probably been the most successful. There aren't many differences between any of the first generation of WP phones, but the Omnia 7 does have one of Samsung's AMOLED screens, which gives it the edge.
But WMPU says a bunch of UK sources have already run out of stock, including Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U, 3 Mobile, O2 and Orange, and it believes no more will be arriving.
Samsung is said to be preparing the Omnia 7's successor for as soon as the Mango update to Windows Phone 7 arrives. It's believed that the handset will be based around the current Galaxy S II, which runs Android.
