Do Samsung Phones (Specifically, In My Case, S3) Have Compatibility Issues With Some Android Apps?

Also, a question about the Pebble Blue varieties: are there two different versions? (see comment below).

I'm asking this because I'm SURE I read it somewhere but can't remember where.
I'm a new S3 owner (thanks HUKD for directing me to smartfonestore) moving on from a Desire HD (mobot's favourite phone ;-)); but I've found a few apps don't work/crash. Is it an ICS thing?
One particular one I'm missing, and really liked, is Vignette. Cannot get it to work AT ALL.
Anyone?

I'll throw another question in the pot as I'm curious. About "Pebble Blue", which infamously had issues with production problems: Are there *two* versions of it out in the wild?
I've read about people saying there is the bona-fide "Pebble Blue" (in the US, I think?) and the much more common "metallic blue". Or is it just a rumour?

Entirely possible for their to be issues with some apps on some Samsung phones. Can't be as bad as some HTC ones atm which have big issues with the obscure Google Maps. ;) So many reviews of that atm 1 star.
Reviews of Vignette might tell you if others are having same issue or nof

louiselouise - any names for those crashing apps? Makes it easier to search....
I had the SGS3 for 6 days, and I tried maybe 2 dozen apps - ordinary ones, and 'root only' types. I had no problems with any of them. Oh, wait - aTorrents wouldn't work.
As to pebble blue: curious - I'm certain the display model in CPW next door is lighter than the one in the O2 store down the road. But I can't compare them side by side LOL

Well she did specify one but there were couple of recent positive reviews of it from s3, so seems it works for some

Yeh, I had a look at Google Play and indeed, there are some happy S3-Vignette owners.
I can only imagine it's because I have erm, obtained one or two apps from unconventional means. I DO pay for my favourites, though, honest!
Don't mind so much about the Pebble Blue versus Metallic Blue grumbles, as I can barely see the colour now I've got a shock-proof case on. Was just curious.

Louiselouise,
are you happy with the SGS3?

I still can't get TapeMachine to work, and Epinephrine Pro crashed for a while but seems stable now...
Yes, I do like the SG3. I'm so much more used to HTC Sense, and hate not being able to jump from app to app at the top taskbar (with the SG3 I have to hold down the Home button).
I like the bigger screen as I read a lot of ebooks and browse pretty often (usually Popbitch, HUKD and b3ta :P). In fact, I'm getting slight buyer's remorse wondering whether I should have held off for the Note 2! I prefer "one box that does everything"; I use mine as an mp3 player too.
No major minuses, apart from my gripe about switching between applications. I liked the HTC weather widget and the "hourly" updates on the weather (sounds like a silly thing to miss, but it was pretty accurate, particularly for hanging out washing in dreich Scotland! SG3 doesn't seem to have that, either).
I haven't really used the video/camera yet.
I've bunged a 64GB card in it and treated myself to AKG K450 headphones..currently wondering whether to get a Fiio headphone amp.

Thanks.
What's it called? HD Widgets? The weather thing is very Sense-ual... I used it on the SGS3 and had the feeling the weather app updated a lot faster than the Sense one...

The SG3 one, you mean (HD Widgets)? It is very like HTC Sense (apart from the "hourly" updates I'm missing...) don't say there'll be another lawsuit happening :P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie1g4WZJdO4 (Hawhaw), not recommended of course..wonder why I originally got a phone with two deep scratches on the screen, then? The cat is a nice touch (well done puss, for kicking it off the table) =^^=

Mohs Scale of Hardness; the Corning Gorilla Glass on the S2 is harder than steel (yes, even that used in a combat knife), but sand, small rocks etc can all easily scratch a Gorilla Glass display.

Yeh, I've read about people mentioning sand..must have been kept in a pocket full of "bits" or something.

Or someone who lives near a beach...sand does have a habit of getting everywhere :p.
