Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but I’m very much on Samsung’s side in this whole Apple rivalry/legal battle thing. I guess that’s because Sammie is the underdog, while Apple is very much the big fat bully.
So, it gives me great pleasure to report that Samsung is reportedly planning to block the sale of the iPhone 5 in Korea. Mwaha.
Apple Insider has a series of juicy quotes from anonymous Samsung execs, and if they are indeed accurate, it looks like Koreans can forget picking up an iPhone 5 any time soon. Although, realistically, it probably won’t come to that, but still – pretty funny.
"Just after the arrival of the iPhone 5 here, Samsung plans to take Apple to court here for its violation of Samsung’s wireless technology related patents," reveals one anonymous Samsung senior executive.
"For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.”
A second executive added: “We are taking different tactics since we are quite confident. If Samsung wins in Germany that will give us a big breakthrough and so will other envisioned efforts against such products as the iPhone 5.”
Go Samsung! Not that I’m an Apple hater or anything. Hell, I’m using a bloody MacBook to write this article.
