Samsung prepping 2014 smartphones with 560 PPI?

Samsung prepping 2014 smartphones with 560 PPI?With the current flagship Samsung Galaxy S4 already rocking a 5in 1080p display and quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, one has to wonder where next year’s Sammo-flavoured flagships will go.

Well, while some reckon 1080p is wasted on a pocket-sized device, the rumour mill proposes that Samsung will go even further down the resolution route, in a blatant attempt to melt your eyeballs.

That’s the story over on oled.at, seemingly citing roadmap type material from Samsung’s recent Analyst Day.

Specifically, we’re told to expect displays with resolutions of 2560 x 1440, which would yield 560PPI on displays of 5in. You might recall the late Steve Jobs suggested anything beyond 300PPI was imperceptible to the human eye.

It’s not clear which phone or phones will debut Samsung’s ludicrous display, but in addition to the inevitable Samsung Galaxy S5, rumour has it the South Koreans will debut a spanking new line of devices in 2014.

Brace yourselves for the ultra-premium Samsung Galaxy F family, which supposedly sits even higher up than the Samsung Galaxy S.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve been told to expect 2560 x 1440 resolutions on smartphones. Check out this newsage pertaining to Japan Display and something called the Vivo Xplay3S.
