There’s been muchos talk of a Samsung Galaxy S III mini lately, and given Sammo’s propensity for churning out Galaxy smartphones of any and all sizes, it’s not exactly a far-fetched concept.
Now we have one of the biggest (pun intended) hints to date, suggesting an imminent launch for the little (or maybe not so little) guy.
Said hint comes via German site MobiFlip, which has published an invite to a mysterious Samsung press event, taking place in Frankfurt on October 11. That’s… a week tomorrow, yep.
The invite is in German, but appears to promise something along the lines of “Something small can be really big”. Maybe Jan will keep us right here.
EDIT: here's a translation from our resident German Irishman:
On 10/10/2012 a small sensation gets a great outing.
You are warmly invited to attend an exclusive press event at the Samsung Store in Frankfurt.
Experience in person why small, this Christmas, will be the new big.
We are looking forward to your registration by 09/10/12.
There’s also a subtle ‘S’ in the background, suggesting we should expect a new member of the burgeoning Samsung Galaxy S family, with all the Pluses and Advances and what not.
Previously rumoured Samsung Galaxy S III mini specs include a 4in WVGA Super AMOLED display, dual-core Exynos processor, and 5MP rear camera.
As I said at the time, those specs suggest the Samsung Galaxy S III mini will be remarkably similar to the Samsung Galaxy S Advance, launched at Mobile World Congress this past February. Hmm.
Well, next week is shaping up to be quite exciting, as iPad mini invites are tipped for October 10 - the day before Samsung's thingy. Good times.
