Samsung pumps out ICS source code for Galaxy Note 10.1, Tab 10.1, and Tab 7 Plus

Samsung pumps out ICS source code for Galaxy Note 10.1, Tab 10.1, and Tab 7 PlusGather round, dear friends. It’s the moment that dozens – dare we even say scores – of people have been waiting for.

You guessed it, man. Samsung has released the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) source code for three of its tablets, namely the Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Tab 10.1, and Galaxy Tab 7 Plus.

What does it all mean? Well, essentially developer types can use the source code to produce custom ROMs for the devices. Sah-weet.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, of course, has yet to hit shelves. It’s tipped for Launch Party #3 on August 15. Hey, that’s this Wednesday!

How does one grab the source code? Just head over to the Samsung Open Source Release Center (does exactly what it says on the tin), and plug in the appropriate model number:

  • N8000 – Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
  • P7500 – Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
  • P6200 – Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus

You have to be pretty Android loving to care about source code releases, even I struggle to get excited about it.
