Samsung S-Circle fitness thingy pops up at FCC

Samsung S-Circle fitness thingy pops up at FCCRemember the Samsung S-Band (above)? Me neither, but supposedly I scribbled about it back in March 2013, it being one of several Samsung Galaxy S4 accessories, the S-Band in particular being described as a “Wellness motivator”. Oh gawd.

A little something called the S-Circle has raised its head over at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and it sounds like it’ll be along the same lines as the S-Band. Prob’ly.

The FCC filing reveals the S-Circle’s model number as EI-AN900A, for what it’s worth, and it’s described – ultimately – as an “activity tracker”.

In terms of connectivity, the S-Circle boasts Bluetooth Low-Energy, so it’ll almost certainly keep in touch with the S Health app on your larger Samsung Galaxy device.

As for functionality, last year’s S-Band was able to monitor sleep patterns, and measure calories burned and steps taken. Expect similar functionality from the S-Circle.

Of course, Samsung went fitness crazy at this year’s Mobile World Congress. We met no less than three Tizen-fuelled smartwatches, namely the Samsung Gear Fit, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo (don't call them Galaxies; ain't no Android here).

And not forgetting the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone flagship, with its heart rate monitor beneath the rear camera.

Clearly JK Shin wants us all to stop being big fatties. The diet and fitness regime start tomorrow in earnest. Honestly.
