Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, and Samsung reckons a good way to mark the occasion is to unleash a garnet red version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE tablet.
Apart from its redness it's the same Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE that's available right now, which means there might actually be more interest in that tomato sauce trifle that fella on the left is thrusting in our general direction.
Harsh maybe, but to be honest companies making a big song and dance just because they've decided to make one of their gadgets in a different colour is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. Doubly so when Valentine's Day is used as the excuse.
Sorry, but “please accept this tablet as a token of my undying love and affection” is unlikely to feature on any list of the most romantic things you could choose to say on Valentine's Day. It may just top “here, have this tomato sauce trifle”, but not by much.
But maybe you feel differently, so for the record I'll remind you that the garnet red Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE gives you a 1,280 x 800 LCD display, a quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 5MP/1.9MP cameras, and of course the S-Pen that gives the “Note” its name. Samsung gets some bonus points for the fact that the S-Pen is also garnet red like the tablet itself.
Anyone really interested in treating their loved one to a new tablet this Valentine's Day should note the following: you can't. The February 14 launch date only applies to Korea, and while Samsung assures us the garnet red Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE will indeed get a wider launch in time, that time won't be tomorrow.
