It doesn’t sound like there’ll be a great deal worth getting excited about at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), with Android flagships now tending to launch at their own events rather than fighting for the spotlight.
The LG G Pro 2 will probably steal the show by default, but we’re also keeping a close eye on the first Samsung Tizen smartphone, which very briefly appeared on eBay ahead of its official launch.
A couple of pictures from the Samsung Tizen eBay listing are relayed by G 4 Games, with further credit going to the, er, blogosphere.
The device was briefly put up for sale at $300 with the description: “New Tizen Samsung SM-Z9005 smartphone for apps development“. The listing has since ended, but we’re still left with the pics above.
Interestingly, the seller also threw in a couple of Samsung Tizen SM-Z9005 specs, including a 4.7in display and 16GB of internal storage.
The other day we saw a leaked Samsung Tizen press shot supposedly revealing a device with a slightly larger 4.8in display, though it carries the model number Z9000. Two different phones? It would seem so.
By all accounts it sounds as though Tizen will finally become a reality at MWC 2014, some two-and-a-half years after it was first announced. We’re also told to brace for a Tizen-fuelled variant of the ZTE Geek.
