It was rumoured at the end of August, weeks before the device even launched, and now we have apparent confirmation.
That’s the story according to FOSS Patents, a thoroughly reliable and reliably thorough (try saying that three times fast) source when it comes to legal stuff.
Jim FOSS (not a real guy, unfortunately) reports that Samsung filed an initial gripe on Wednesday, predicting that the iPhone 5 will infringe on its LTE patents.
Sammo promises to “file a motion to amend its infringement contentions to address the iPhone 5 as soon as it has had a reasonable opportunity to analyze the device". The iPhone 5 is, of course, out today.
Jim adds that Samsung could seek a preliminary injunction against the iPhone 5, though it's not specifically mentioned in the filing. Yeah, good luck getting that approved in California.
A few weeks ago, Apple added the Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note to an ongoing thing with the blah blah blah.
And the patent wars roll on…
