Samsung’s Next Big Thing ad campaign has been going for a couple of months now, and it shows no sign of slowing down.
The ads suggest that The Next Big Thing Is Already Here, essentially poking fun at the iPhone 4S and Apple fanboys, while bigging up the Samsung Galaxy S II. This latest ad shows Apple geeks being “Samsunged”.
The Samsunged ad features the now familiar scenario of Apple diehards camping outside the store in anticipation of the latest smartphone launch. After watching the “first unboxing video” online, one Apple fan moans: “Aww, that looks like last year’s phone!”
The obligatory Samsung Galaxy S II owner - who turns up to drop off a charger - shows off his turn-by-turn navigation. “How much did you pay for that app?” “I didn’t. Galaxy S II just has it.”
Much the same as the other ads then. As is often the case with these things, we still reckon the first – the Thanksgiving ad – was the best. “Dude, you’re a barista.”
Is it just us, or is it time to wrap up the Next Big Thing campaign? How long can Samsung keep rehashing the same joke?
