Samsung unveils Tocco Lite 2

Samsung unveils Tocco Lite 2I was joking the other day, during the Samsung Galaxy Tab 11.6 story, that I feared Sammo might “do an HTC” in 2012 with a ludicrous array of devices both smartphone and tablet.

Well, the South Korean manufacturer is only adding to those concerns with a press release detailing the spanking new Tocco Lite 2. Hmm.

The Samsung Tocco Lite 2 is, of course, the successor to the Samsung Tocco Lite, which managed to shift some 30 million units. Not bad.

As you’d probably expect, the specs on the Samsung Tocco Lite 2 aren’t vastly different from the original. We’ve got a 3in display, 3.2MP camera, 1,000mAh battery and Samsung TouchWiz Lite.

Indeed, it’s not far off the Samsung Galaxy Y, the key difference being that the Samsung Tocco Lite 2 adopts a proprietary OS as opposed to Android.

Simon Stanford of Samsung’s UK & IRE Telecommunications & Networks Division (phew) commented: “Our range of Tocco devices have been among our best selling over the past few years. Thanks to the incredible response we’ve had to the original Tocco Lite and Tocco Icon handsets, we’re excited to now be offering our customers improved social networking and enhanced multimedia capabilities with the Tocco Lite 2.

“Our aim with this new handset is to build on the features we know our customers enjoy and find useful by providing greater synergy between their mobile handset and their social networks, and in doing so, giving them more ways to stay in touch with their friends and loved ones when they’re on the move.”

Fancy it? The Samsung Tocco Lite 2 will be available from early March 2012.
