Berlin’s annual IFA conference opens its doors on September 5 this year, so the obvious question is: why in the hell would anyone wait till then to unveil stuff? Much more logical to get the ball rolling two days prior. Ahem.
Sony is supposedly holding an event on September 3, and not to be outdone, Samsung is following suit.
Doing the rounds across the cyber-web is a shot of Samsung’s official IFA 2014 Unpacked event invite.
Written in Jan’s local tongue, Unpacked 2014 is clearly scheduled for “Woensdag 3 Sept”, or “Wednesday September 3” if you prefer. Kicking off at 2pm in Germania, that’s 1pm to you and me in the UK.
Front-runner for Sam-launch at IFA 2014 is the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the previous three Galaxy Notes having launched at – you guessed it – the previous three IFA conferences.
There’s also the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, the watered down Galaxy S5 with metal trim that’s supposed to go head-to-head with the iPhone 6. Zuh?
We wouldn’t be surprised to meet some sort of Samsung wearable, too. At last year’s IFA, Samsung “reinvented the watch” with the original Galaxy Gear, while a further three Tizen-based goodies were unveiled at Mobile World Congress.
Google is reportedly upset that Samsung continues to favour Tizen for its wearables, so perhaps we’ll see a cursory Android Wear device.
