When you're looking at a PDF (like a menu) on your iPhone or iPad is there some way to save it to your iPhone or iPad? I'm holding my finger down but nothing's happening......

Tes, you can save PDFs that you open in Safari or as email attachments:
I assume your iPhone or iPad is on iOS 8.x.x?
When the PDF is fully loaded in Safari, tap on it - i.e., tap the PDF page. In the top-right corner of your screen a menu pops up that reads "Open in iBooks". Confirm by tapping on that menu. The PDF will now open in iBooks where it is saved also.
You can then later transfer the PDF from iBooks to your PC/Mac via iTunes app file transfer.
If you do not have iOS 8, install iBooks from the Appstore.
