Last year, the self-proclaimed “Flagship Killer” OnePlus One made waves with flagship-level specs and an entirely reasonable price tag, being sold at cost.
It’s not quite as cheap, but the Saygus V2 looks set to cause disruption this year with top-of-the-range specs and a price that undercuts most – if not all – of the major smartphone players.
A pre-registration special sees the Saygus V2 being offered for $549 till noon (MST) on Monday. That’s a saving of $50 on the “online discounted price” of $599 (around £400 to you and me in the UK), and early adopters get a bonus battery and free specialised glass screen protector.
The Saygus V2 debuted at CES 2015 earlier this month, and quickly garnered tons of praise. Here’s what people are saying:
- “The V2 is indeed everything it was rumoured to be and more” – Slashgear
- “The uber superphone… Superman phone” – CNET
- “dream phone” – PC Magazine
- “Beast of a smartphone… out-specs the biggest names in mobile” – Gizmag
- “Preposterously powerful” - Stuff
Saygus V2 specs include a 5in edge-to-edge “sunlight viewable” 1080p display, front and back light sensors for enhanced screen lighting control, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 21MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), 13MP front camera, 3GB RAM, 64GB storage with dual microSD slots (up to 256GB total), IPX7-certified waterproofing, and a removable 3,100mAh battery that promises up to 50% more use than batteries of a similar size.
Sounds pretty awesome, right? Clearly the current Saygus V2 pre-registration scheme is focused on the US, but the super-phone is being rolled out in further territories in due course.
