How do you take a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy Ace?

Is it possible to take a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy Ace? Like by pressing two buttons at the same time?

you do it by holding the back button/sensor and clicking the home button at the same time. if unsure there is a youtube video about it:)

Android is still a tad underdeveloped when it comes to things that smartphones have been able to do for years.
So, no, an unrooted Samsung Galaxy Ace can not take a screenshot natively. Some apps in the Market claim they "work on some unrooted" Android phones. I tried all those apps on various phones. None worked for me.
When you root your Galaxy Ace, you'll be able to use ShootMe or one of the many other apps like it.
If you install the bulky Android SDK on your PC, you can take screenshots via your PC, but what a drag...

Jan's right, the only Android phone that can take screenshots using the phone itself, out of the box, without rooting (like the iPhone can), is the Galaxy S2, which does it by pressing home & power at the same time, (same as the iPhone).

You can always put a phone on a scanner :p
Should work with all phone models.

Or just shine it in the mirror and take a photo with the front facing camera.

Treab,...
Shut up.

I think the camera joke is pretty dead now, Treab.

Treab  Feb. 28, 2012 at 17:00

i dunno i reckon i could keep it up ;)

jan after last night you cant comment gun-boy ;)

JanSt / MOD  Feb. 28, 2012 at 17:00

I wouldn't mind a dead dull joke, but casual visitors with an Ace might be mislead. It HAS NO FRONT CAM!!!

Treab  Feb. 28, 2012 at 17:02

if they are that stupid.. THEY DONT DESERVE A SMARTPHONE. jebus jan you cant wrap up morons in cotton wool.

Treab, there is a difference between going offtopic in one thread and posting misinformation about a technical aspect of a phone that is not marketed to tech geniuses.
Who are you to judge people for their choice of phone and for the level of effort they put into learning about them?
After all: they do come here to take the first step!
And then you call them stupid?

You're funny at times, but that level of condescension is quite out of sync with the quality of your contributions.

Treab  Feb. 28, 2012 at 17:27

but judging those who dont look into mobiles before they buy is normal. its like buying a computer/tv without looking into the technology first. your asking for trouble,.

CTPAHHIK  Feb. 28, 2012 at 17:50

Not true, you can buy an iPhone and be rest assured it's a quality product. (_;)

JanSt / MOD  Feb. 28, 2012 at 18:00

Treab, you weren't "judging" them in an acceptable social manner. You call them idiots!
Also: can you not accept that for many people a mobile is just an everyday tool?! Not everyone thinks it's worth investing a lot of time in. Who joins a fridge or toaster forum?
People can expect a product to work.
What phonemakers and networks get away with is like bookshops selling books with missing pages. Some would go and get the missing chapters from pirate bay, others are just confused by how weirdly the story ends...
There's worse than a lack of smartphone knowledge, really. And again: especially those people who come out here and ask the questions don't deserve criticism for making the effort.
I may have fallen for the urban myth of ceramic guns, but you corrected me, and I can still shoot your butt with my non-ceramic gun ;)
Maybe you hang out with too many crazy people?! :p don't let that bleed into your life ...there, me being caring and condescending at once.

Now back on topic.

To recap, there's no way of doing this out of the box.
Not true, you can buy an iPhone and be rest assured it's a quality product. (_;)
Probably why my housemate's "Home" button has stopped working then :p

well, s/he should get it fixed then :p
My HTC Desire HD had a broken volume rocker after 3 weeks. Exchange unit came with a faulty battery cover. My BB 9780 came with a faulty battery cover. Exchange unit had a faulty optical d-pad...

Our household's gone through 4 iPhones, a Macbook, an Ipad and iPod. None of them had any trouble ever. G*d, I hate Apple. Smug perfectionist **** :p Back to my Pre 3

blizzard7  Feb. 28, 2012 at 23:40

You did well to avoid the iMacs then. My iMac G5 went through 3 MoBo replacements in a year :| Plus my iPod 4G 20 GB died within 18 months thanks to hard drive failure. I don't hold Apple's build quality in particularly high regards.

That said, apparently his broken button can be replaced by cleaning with vodka, but he hasn't tried that yet.

CTPAHHIK  Feb. 29, 2012 at 08:15

We all know that he is pressing it wrong. :p

Ok everyone saying you cant take a screenshot is wrong. you can. All you have to do is hold the back button or " undo" button and then press the hme button. Also, if you want to take a picture INSIDE of an app just TAP the home button like just 1 small click and then it should make a sound and work and then you can find your pictures in the gallery.
