Why is my SD card unavailable when plugged into PC/Mac?

I've selected "Charge Only" but it still makes the SD card unavailable when plugged in. I've tried it with and without USB debuggin enabled... and it happens on both Mac and PC. Any ideas? Recently upgraded to 2.3.5 and it still occurs.

I know what the problem is :p the memory card reader would be to check for any errors/ corruption which is confusing the PC but being ignored on Android.
Nah... :p

Yes, that is an idea ;) But his problem is actually more common than you think.

Do you have Double Twist installed by any chance? If so:
Go into Double Twist
Menu > Settings > Disable Auto USB Drive

If DT isn't the culprit, try connecting the phone as Disk Drive. Then press "disconnect" (BUT leave the cable connected) and change to charge only... I had that same issue with a HTC Legend, and that trick worked for me.

I'm confused, you've selected "Charge Only", and you're wondering why your SD card is unavailable to access from your computer? Try selected "Mount as External Drive", or whatever HTCs call it.

No, matt...
s/he cannot access the memory card ON THE PHONE when connected to a composter in "charge only" mode ;)

Hmm...maybe there's more to this than I first thought (not that I have any idea how to fix it).

This might sound a bit patronising but when you select "Charge Only" are you hitting the done button at the bottom? If you don't you'll just back out without your option. Other than that I've never really heard of this problem, got a microSD reader handy?

blizz, what good is a memory card reader for this problem? Like matty, you missed the point: he wants to charge the phone via PC but still use the phone (including access to the memory card)...
