Ever used a second-hand phone?

Whenever I get a new phone, I always buy brand new. Am I being a snob by ruling out second-hand phones? ;)

I have bought a number of 2nd hand phones.
I had 2 poor experiences way back when, so these days I only buy phones 'in person' or from reputable Amazon Germany vendors. Never had problems. In fact: I have used more faulty
network supplied devices ;)
Often (and again: dealing with reputable folks) with those 2nd hand devices you know any issues have already been sorted out.

I bought 2 used Motorola DEXT back in the day.
They were pretty much perfect except for 1 developed a keyboard fault 11 months later. It was no big deal as I was upgrading to the Galaxy S anyway, but due to second hand nature of the phone it would have been difficult to get Motorola to repair it.

I also bought a Motorola Defy from CEX which was as good as new. At least with CEX they offer 12 Month Warranty and you can see the device in person.

Although I do prefer a new device.

The new device smell ® - I shall invent that!
(free factoid: one of the ingredients of "new car smell" is chloroform... YUM :D

I've bought several phones second hand including, but not limited to, the: HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD, HTC One X 16GB, iPhone 5S 16GB and the Moto G 8GB. All of them have been exactly as described (aka perfect condition, apart from the Desire HD which had a small scratch, as advertised).

If you buy carefully, second hand can get you some good bargains. If you buy the first one you see, you'll probably end up with a lemon.
