Selfridges bags BlackBerry Q10 exclusive for a few days, looks to empty your wallet

Selfridges bags BlackBerry Q10 exclusive for a few days, looks to empty your walletWhile Samsung continues to churn out new smartphones on an almost daily basis, Canadian manufacturer BlackBerry lies at the opposite end of the scale, having released just one phone of note in the last, like, 18 months or so.

That phone is of course the BlackBerry Z10, and it’s about to be joined - finally - by the QWERTY-rockin’ BlackBerry Q10. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the latter, I draw your attention to Selfridges.

Via the great medium of twitter, BlackBerry UK announces: “BIG NEWS: The #BlackBerryQ10 is available exclusively at @Selfridges THIS FRI/SAT/SUN! Pre-order yours now”.

There’s also a handy BlackBerry Q10 pre-order link, specifically this bad boy: http://www.selfridges.com/en/StaticPage/BlackberryQ10.

The last time we talked BlackBerry Q10 price, we heard it gauged at a whopping £530 SIM free. If that was enough to knock you off your feet, you should probably be sitting down for what I’m about to tell you.

Selfridges will sell you a BlackBerry Q10 SIM free for – get this - £579.99. Holy mother of Heins.

The Selfridges BlackBerry Q10 exclusive lasts for three days, from Friday to Sunday, before the smartphone touches down at other retailers. However, if you order from Selfridges today, you can have it in your hands on Friday.

Right, who’s buying one?

Surely no one would buy these. Not at this price at least o.O

Doesn't make a lot of sense considering how bad Z10 sales were. Not to mention that you can get handset like S4, One or iPhone 5 for about the same price SIM-free.

Yes, that price is nuts. And turn the phone around and it looks like some sort of Asha - as if the designers finished a shift halfway through the process and nobody noticed it wasn't finished.

Mind you, for €350 prepay or simfree (they are easy to unlock) I'd buy one. €400 - I might think about it... More? Nah.

Those canadians are getting high on that maple syrup, or actually eating too much EpicMealTime food.

Ludicrous price for a qwerty these days. Watch those low numbers 6 months later on the sales front.

Yeah, you'd think... but the 9900 is still ridiculously expensive. Hey, at this rate the Porsche version will be cheaper in 6 months :p

Crazy price as mentioned, Although Blackbery have made some huge steps forward recently it seems like they are pricing in the past, can someone send them a link to the Nexus range please?

Best QWERTY phone in the world.
Fastest texting or emailing of any phone in the world.
Secure and ready for mobiling computing.
S4, why would you buy that? Todays movers and shakers have a cool, reliable, easy to use cell phone and a tablet for watching movies, no?
i5? really? a longer 4S, which was a refreshed 4?
The Q10 is unbelievable. It isnt just a QWERTY, wait until you play with it....
Consumers that want to get the job done, securely, are still using Bolds and will replace them with Q10s. Anybody visit Selfridges today? Quite the crazy sellout!!!

AFAIK the fastest text ever was set on a touchscreen phone http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/8000/fastest-time-to-write-a-text-message-(sms)-on-a-touchscreen-mobile-phone

Perosnally I also used to think that I would never text as fast with a touchscren than I was able to with a T9 phone (resisted switching for ages) but now i can blaze messages out on my iPhone one handed in no time, considerably faster than I do with my work Blackberry anyway..

Yes... I still prefer the feel of a good BB or Nokia keyboard, and I used to be one of those claiming, "NEVER a touchscreen-only device", but there's nothing wrong with typing on a good touchscreen qwerty... (unless you're the Samsung Galaxy Camera....).
