Sensation owners! ICS?

Sensation (including XE) owners who want to give ICS a try may want to head on over to XDA, where a supposedly fully working HTC ICS (with Sense 3.5) is available.

Just downloading now :)

Oh! Let us know how you're getting on ;)

Flashed and restoring some apps now.
Seems very stable so far :)

How much free memory do you have on boot? and also how is everything working? Camera etc...

mrew42  Dec. 21, 2011 at 16:13

I'll let you know once me Mrs gets off the bloody thing (my Orange signal better than her O2 indoors)

mrew42  Dec. 21, 2011 at 16:24

611 Mb total memory - 168 Free (bloody sense)
But tbh I've not found any problems with this sort of level in the past. Wifi, mobile data & BT all fine. Camera is good (builtin panorama). No obvious bugs so far.

And rather bizzarely, after a couple of reboots and some restores, free memory has gone up to 225Mb.......

Hey, thanks for the quick reply, that sounds pretty awesome. Its amazing how quickly they've been able to put ICS on the sensation. Is face unlock working yet? and how about tethering?

Don't worry if you don't have time to test it, i'm just getting too excited over here aha

Mrew,
I'm currently using a "trial" Galaxy Note. Available memory with all apps/tasks killed varies randomly between 200 and 480mb...even after a complete reboot it's never the same.

Dalvik cache could be sitting on data partition - It keeps changing. Also each app has it's own cache + data. You can wipe cache and save space.
TI Backup has best feature ever - integrate into ROM/convert to system app - will copy app to ROM.

Thethering - Yes
Face lock - Yes even with my ugly mug.
Folders is great, just copy one app to another to create a new folder and you can even see the 1st 4 apps as the folder picture. I've seen that in various optional home apps and custom roms.
Only downside so far is that i'm back at 1.2Ghz, but it's so slick I didn't really notice until someone on XDA pointed it our.

Treab  Dec. 21, 2011 at 20:49

photo shot? or your real face?

mrew42  Dec. 22, 2011 at 09:33

Aha, both :)

There are two more ICS variations just published, InsertCoin and Revolution. I'm just downloading the latter (Mike the main developer is awsome)

CTPAHHIK  Dec. 22, 2011 at 09:38

Mike tends to use official HTC releases to base his ROMs off. Is it safe to say that HTC beat everyone else to ICS?

mrew42  Dec. 22, 2011 at 09:51

Certainly looks that way. RCMix appears to be based on the official HTC release too. Some issues still exists with SU and root access, also 1.2Ghz for original Sensation, but Mike is working on those right away

mrew42  Dec. 22, 2011 at 18:40

Oh oh, it's all kicked off over at XDA. Mike's Revolution thread has been closed as it's alleged he 'poached' the RUU from RCMix.
Ho hum

matt101101 / MOD  Dec. 22, 2011 at 18:54

On the bright side, mrew, you've got your ICS so it doesn't really matter ;).

CTPAHHIK  Dec. 24, 2011 at 20:08

Did not read XDA's, how can you poach RUU. It's an official release from HTC - seems like a free for all.
