You know that old saying: “You can never have enough tablets?” Well, Sharp obviously does, as it’s just announced a third Galapagos.
The 7in Galapagos joins the already-available 5.5 and 10.8in versions. They were first announced in September 2010.
The Sharp Galapagos A01SH has a 7in 1,024 x 600 display, 8GB of internal storage, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 5MP/2MP rear/front camera combo.
At 12.9mm, it’s over 3mm thicker than the new Galaxy Tab and the iPad 2 (8.6 and 8.8mm respectively). Actually, 12.9mm is identical to the Motorola Xoom.
It’s expected to land in Japan later this month, and will be the country’s first Android 3.2-running tablet. Yanks can expect the 7in Sharp Galapagos A01SH before the end of the year.
Will we see the Sharp Galapagos A01SH over here? Well, given that I can’t find the 5.5 and 10.8in versions anywhere, I’d go with: probably not.
